    2. ALLAN BURKE
    3. MARY: GIVE ME A FEW DAYS TO GET MY JAMES BURKE MATERIAL TOGETHER AND I WILL BE BACK IN CONTACT WITH YOU. I THINK YOUR JAMES WAS A DECENDENT OF A JAMES BURKE THAT CAME TO THIS COUNTRY ABOUT 1730 AND LANDED IN PHILADELPHIA, PA AND MARRIED A QUAKER WOMAN BY THE NAME OF MARY POLLY BANE. THEY HAD 1 CHILD BORN IN PA BY THE NAME OF JAMES AND THEN STARTED MOVING SOUTH. JAMES SR HAD SKILLS AS A LAND SURVEYOR AND WAS CALLED UPON BY GENERAL PATTON TO COME DOWN TO SOUTH WEST VA AND SURVEY LARGE TRACTOF LAND WHICH HE HAD BEEN GRANTED. SO THEY STARTED THEIR MIGRATION SOUTH. I WILL FILL YOU IN ON THE OTHER DETAILS LATER, HOWEVER THERE IS STILL A PLACE IN SOUTHWESTERN VA NAMED AFTER JAMES BURKE AND IT IS CALLED BURKES GARDEN. MOR LATER ALLAN BURKE Al, thank you for such a fast reply. The information I put in the original e-mail was all that I have, other than census information. The birth date and place info came from the bible that belonged to my mother-in-law who was a great great grandaughter of James and Hannah. There was no marriage info, nothing on their parents, siblings, or any children other than Mary (Polly), so as you see I do not have much of anything to go on, and any help would be very much appreciated.
