I found them lin the 1810 census for VA. under the spelling of Burk and living next door to them was John Eddy father of Elizabeth. But from there on I draw a blank on this Thomas and Elizabeth (Eddy) Burke / Burk family. Any advise sure would be of some help. Thank you Nelson Eddy

    3. Are there any descendants of this couple, or interested researchers, out there? Michael and Sarah lived in Co. Galway, Ireland, in the late 1700's early 1800's and had several children. One of them (Rev. Michael Burke) in turn had a son (Michael!) who came to New Zealand and married Maria Minchin.

The 1860 census says he was born in Pennsylvania and in the 1870 and later census some of his children say he was born in Scotland. The 1850 census has his age as 45, the 1860 has it as 46 so you can see that we don't know what to really think. That is why I asked the question. I appreciate you replying so quickly. Thanks

In the 1850 Henry Co. census, it clearly says that Samuel Burke was born in New York, not Pennsylvania. I can email you a copy of this census page if you don't have it. I don't have anything further on your Samuel in my Tenn. Burke notes.

Don't know who his father is but we think he may be a descendant of James Burke. Hoping maybe you have some info. He married Mary Jarrett 1845 in Carroll Co TN. In 1850 they were in Henry Co TN. On one of the census it says he was born in Pennsylvania. It is believed by a few people that might have been a mistake by the census taker. It may have been Pittsylvania as Madison Burke and his sister are in Henry CO TN at this time and Samuel & Thompson Burke were in Trigg Co KY just across the state line. According to the census he was born between 1805-1814.
