Hello, Bobby Wayne Burke's daughter. I am a Burke. I have more questions than answers, but the first place that I have found my Burke family was in Lincoln Co. North Carolina. Some of the family went from there to KY and some to GA. I cannot find them in 1850 anywhere. Later my grandpa's family went to Alabama where he married and raised a family. When my grandpa was 11 his dad died and his mother took her rather large family to Miss. to be near her sister and family. The first Burke ancestor that I am sure of is Bartlett Yancey Burke. His son Benjamin is my grandpa's dad. I have some names of my grandpa's brothers, sisters, uncles and aunts. Contact me if you want to see if we have any Burke connection. Glenda Burke

Hi Everyone, I have just been given the opportunity to go to Ireland in June! I can't believe it!! However, before I go I need to find out more information about my family so that I can hopefully know enough to get further information while there. My g-grandmother is Mary Burke. She was born July 25, 1866 in Ireland. My Mom's sisters could not agree which county she was born in. I have heard County Clare, Limerick or Cork. Mary Burke married Alexander Rich November 18, 1889 so I only find her as a Rich in the 1900 census. Mary's parents were James and Delia Burke. I know this from a copy of her marriage license where her parents names are listed. All of the various census state she came over in 1880. She would have been 13 or 14 years old. I also have heard that she had a brother James and that Mary came over at least twice from Ireland. Some of my big issues: I have found a New York Passenger Lists from May 17, 1880 showing Joseph Burke age 15, Mary Burke age 13, James Burke age 11 and Catherine Burke age 9. Ship is the City of Richmond. Port of Departure Liverpool, England and Queenstown, Ireland. I also have a New York Passenger List for Mary Burke arriving May 6, 1887, age 21 (which would be correct for being born in 1866), born in Ireland. The person listed directly beneath her is Augustia Burke age 18, born abt. 1869. What is interesting about this Ship log is that the people are listed as coming from Ireland County Clare. QUESTION: How do I KNOW that this is my family? And, if indeed it is, how then would I go about getting information about her birth in County Clare? Any help would be fantastic. I am a real novice when it comes to foreign born relatives and how to research that data. thanks for reading this. Hello list, I am interested in connecting with anyone who knows anything about the BURKE family in Glynnwood, Auglaize county, Ohio. I am not sure if there are two Burke families in Glynnwood. There was a Michael Burke who married Mary Kinney and a Peter Burke who married Catherine Fallon. There is also a Bridget Burke who married Patrick McCormick. I descend from Michael Burke and Mary Kinney through his son, Thomas David Burke and wife Catherine Marie Kelley. I'm interested in corresponding with anyone who has interest in any of these Burke families. I am also researching the Cogan, Glynn, Byrne and Connaughton families from this area. Most of the families settled in Glynnwood after immigrating from Ireland; I believe most of them settled for a short time in Cincinnati and then went on to Glynnwood. She married Michael J. BURKE at St. Raphael's Cathedral in Dubuque, Iowa, SEP 15, 1850. Michael arrived in Dubuque, Iowa, from Ireland, circa 1848. Catharine arrived in Iowa, from Ireland, circa 1836 to early 1840's. This couple left Iowa for Shawnee, Kansas circa 1858/59. Catharine visited family members in Kansas City, Missouri. I'm DESPERATELY looking for the siblings and the parents of Thomas KEANE, KEAN, KANE, b. C. 1839, Ireland; d. DEC 11, 1906, age 67, paralysis. Thomas KEANS (sp) married Honora SCANLON at St. Patrick's Catholic Church, Kansas City, MO on JAN 11, 1872. Honora KEANE (nee SCANLON), b. abt. And per MO/SOS records and U.S. census records, I've found the following: Annie Laurie KEAN, b. NOV. 6, 1872, unk marriage and death Delia M. KEANE, b. FEB 1876, KC/MO; unk marriage; d. OCT 23, 1937, Jackson co/MO Michael Joseph KANE, b. OCT 1, 1877, KC/MO; d. Michael enlisted in WWI, SEP 12, 1918, non-Vet. He was living at 4226 Locust, KC/MO when he enlisted. I don't know if they had children. Jessie's parents: George H. MONAHAN & Ida S. XXX? I actively use the MO SOS site and HQ census databases searching for clues that may fit with this line. The 1900 census says Thomas KEANE emigrated to US in 1866, 34 years in U.S., and Naturalized. I found some Na records but need to send for them. I've also contacted the Mid-Continent Public Library and was told the records for 1866 may or may not give much pertinent detail on parentage. I still plan to order the record. Basically, I'm looking for familial connections between the MARTIN & KEANE surnames in Jackson county, Missouri. Both of these lines are from Ireland. I don't know for sure if their is a tie. I'm going by the 1904 obit of Catharine that was published in the Olathe Register, Johnson county, Kansas on DEC. 2, 1904 which says: "... her niece ..." "Mrs. BURKE at the time was on her way to mass at Holy Rosary Church which is located only one and one-half blocks from the home of her niece Mrs. Thos. KEANE, with whom she was visiting, and when the accident occurred she was not 100 feet from the house." I'm in the process of buying my own microfilms for early newspapers for Jackson and Dubuque counties, Iowa; Johnson county, Kansas; and, Jackson county, Missouri. The local gossip should help me locate data, but in the mean time, I would love to find others who are searching the early KEANE line in Missouri. I appreciate any help. Thank you. Interested in contacting people and finding information on the Burke family from Tipperary, Ireland. William Burke (later spelling became Bourke in Australia) born c1858 at Ballengarry, Tipperary, Ireland. He may have come out with sister/sisters - year and boat, unknown. His father was William Burke who was married to Bridgit Quinn, all of Tipperary. William came to Australia some time in the 1870's. As far as is known he came to Rockhampton and was working as a labourer and bullock teamster in Western Queensland. His marriage was to Ellen Donovan, (also from Tipperary) in Rockhampton, 1881. He died ?1912, possibly in Brisbane. They had 7 children - being born in Rockhampton, Bowen, and Mareeba. Request by his grt grandson, Ron Lawson
