No obvious links however. My John Burke was born around 1826. He married a Catherine Arragan in Carrick on Suir, Co. Tipperary, Ireland. In 1849. They must have left Ireland that year. Their first child Mary was born in 1850 in St. Albans, VT, They then moved to Dunkirk, NY and then finally settled in Cleveland, Cuyahoga Co., OH by 1855. Know it is a popular name in Ireland, and most likely Tipperary but thought something might connect. Dennis

    2. Charles Sullivan
    3. Quoting from "The Oxford Dictionary of English Christian Names", 3rd Ed: "Delia or Bedelia is often used in Ireland by persons christened Bridget or Brigid - presumably as sounding more genteel." I have a gg-GF named Miles Bourke/Burke (c1813-1872) who emigrated from Ireland in the mid 1830s and lived in Oneida County NY, in Utica in later days. His brother Thomas (c1810-1878) emigrated from Ireland in 1836, and also lived in Oneida County/Utica. There is also a Patrick Bourke/Burke (c1800-????) who is presumed to be a third brother, but no solid evidence. Patrick may be the same individual whose daughter Mary married John Carr and lived in Town of Florence, Oneida County per the 1860 census. Miles was married three times. His first wife, mother of Thomas (c1832-1882) and Richard (c1834-1868), may have died in Ireland. His second wife was Mary McDonough, by whom he had a son William (1846-1925). After her death, he married Bridget Lynch and had sons John(1860), Patrick(1864), and Richard Miles(1869). Son Richard Miles married Clara Esele. Miles' brother Thomas married Mary O'Neil and had children Thomas(c1840), John(c1842), Richard(c1844) William(c1845), Miles Richard(1848), James(c1854), and Hannah(c1857). Son Miles Richard married Margeret Landers. (The name Michael appears nowhere in any of these people or their known descendents.) There is an apparently unrelated Miles Burke who immigrated from Ireland and died in Utica in 1906.
