I'm searching for the sibling's of my Uncle Clarence Burke who died in Jachson Mich. in 1943. Clarence was born in Cleveland Ohio in 1901. he first married Jessie, possibly in 1928. Twins girls were born, Ivadell who died at an early age and Lolabell who at my last knowledge was living in Chicago Ill. in 1951. This was recorded in the obituary for our grandmother Della Burke. This marriage ended in divorce. Clarence then married Elizabeth. From this marriage a son was born, Gerald Burke. Gerry as he was called was probably born in 1936. He was also listed in the obituary as living in Jackson Mich in 1951. I've never met Lolabell or Gerald. I have much family information to share. I would appreciate any help I can receive. Thank You.... Darold Carlin. ==== BURK Mailing List ==== NOTICE !!!! My ggfather Mathew Burke died in Clinton Co Oh in 1875. Mathews 2nd wife Margaret Luddington (nee Thatcher) had 4 children by Mathew Elliott B Burke, Preston B Burke, Precilla Burke and Minnie Burke. At the time of his death Margaret had 3 of her children by Milton Luddington, living in the household. Delila, Fenton and Symore remained in Clinton Co. Margaret took Percilla and Minnie to live with her father Thomas Thatcher. See: the 1880 Census of Clinton Co. Oh. The 1880 Census of the next co. over Fayette Co listed Elliott and Preston as living in a Reform School. Can some tell me who I can contact regarding this school, also what happened to Preston, Margaret, Minnie and Percilla Burke. What caused this family to break up? I know the poverty at the time might have been part of the problem. Also, what happened to Milton Luddington? why didn't he take his 3 children. Milton married a Betty Brown, then they might have moved to Edgar Co Ill. Thank you Darold Carlin ==== BURK Mailing List ==== Want to unsubscribe from the BURK-L list (single message mode)? Sue, I have a Richard Burk from Warren Co., Tennessee. Is your line connected with the one listed in the 1830 Warren Co., Tennessee Census, p. 318? He was living next to his father-in-law, Moses James Wilder. My Richard Burk was b. March 25, 1786 in Baltimore, Maryland. Was in 1830 Warren Co., TN Census, moved to Tuscaloosa Co., Alabama, pg 192 by the 1840 Census and is found there in 1850 and 1860. Living Mississippi by 1880 with one of his sons (can't remember which one, think it was Isaac in Marshall Co.) when my ancestor, Moses Burk went to Alabama and got him because he had fell into bad health. Richard is believed to be the son of Joseph Burk or Baltimore, Maryland and had a brother named Isaac who settled and stayed in Illinois. I believe that Richard settled there first and may have migrated back and forth to IL and TN before finally settling in AL. Let me know if you see a possible connection.
