I have been researching them for almost 20 years now. The patriarch of the Burgert clan, was Samuel Peter Burgert, born 1840, Cincinnati, Ohio and was my gg grandfather. I am still trying to identify his parents who were allegedly born in Alsace, Germany. I know that a Peter Burgert who is listed in the 1862 Cincinnati City Directory as Dagerrean artist, which is the early photographic process that Samuael, aka Simon Peter Burgert began his photographic career as, is part of the family who remained in Ohio, and was in business with David Kruger who married Mary Burgert, Samuel's sister.
