Hi, I am trying to find the names of my g g grand parents. Family legend says she was a BURGE, sister to Mary Annette BURGE McGUIRE McRAE, wife of ex Miss. Gov. John J McRAE. Miss BURGE b. VA married a Mr. SMITH b. GA ca. 1816. Children: Eliza SMITH b. ca. 1817 MS m. ca. 1839 Larkin COLLINS James William SMITH b. 1819 Pike Co., MS m. 1851 Sarah A M BENGE Henry B(urge) SMITH b. 1821 MS m. ca. 1848 Nancy J (?) (Henry had a grand son named Henry BURGE Smith) Martha SMTIH b. 1824 Monticello, Lawrence Co., MS m. 1850 Marcus F BEARD (Martha told her desendents that she lived with Mary Annette Burge McGuire) Mr. SMITH died between 1824 - 1830 and the widow SMITH married the overseer, a Mr. FINNEY. They had a son, William Wellington FINNEY b. 1831 MS. The story goes that the SMITH children were so upset with their mother they went to live with their aunt Mary Annette BURGE McGUIRE.
