I have been trying to find the parentage of Philip Burch of Person County. He was married to Mary Hargis, and apparently had no children of his own. His wife was aunt to my ancestress, Lucy Hudgins, whose mother was Nancy Hargis. My ancestor, John Fox, had been apprenticed to Philip, when he was twelve. Eventually John married Lucy. I have always felt that Phillip was a surrogate father to my John, and would like to place him in the proper perspective as far as family and connections. John Fox's brother, William, was apprenticed to Henry Burch, who married Elizabeth Dollarhide and moved westward. I have often wondered if Philip and Henry were brothers, but can find no one who seems to include them in their family lines. I do know that when William Fox married in 1822 Richard Crisp was the bondsman for the marriage of William and Nancy. Richard Crisp was the son of Janey Burch and John Crisp. I though perhaps the Crisp/Burch! connection might have something to do with your line. Best regards, John Fox Winston Salem, NC
