Good morning, everybody. I have a question most notably directed at the Burch and Thomas researchers, but one that I thought might spark some discussion among the Myers and Harrells, too. I have recently received in the mail a copy of Wm. Bernette Burch¹s Burch Family, and was rather confused about one detail in particular: on the first page of records, he mentions that Joseph BURCH married Mary HOLLENDSWORTH, with whom he had three children. However, I have seen numerous places on the web that Joseph actually married Mary Ann FISHER. (No real citations; just what I¹ve seen.) What makes this even more interesting is that on p.9, Bernette states that General Tristram THOMAS [Jr.] married Mary HOLLENDSWORTH ³of a Welch family²! There could, of course, be two Mary HOLLENDSWORTHs, but it seems quite the coincidence that their children would marry each other: Joseph BURCH, Jr. married Elizabeth THOMAS (daughter of Tristram Jr.) on 27 Apr 1797. In searching the THOMAS-L archives, I have found quite a few HOLLINGSWORTHs that married into the THOMAS family. As Mary¹s surname is often spelled HOLLINGSWORTH, this would indicate the greater likelihood being placed in her marriage to Tristram Jr. However, I don¹t have any documentation for any of this, save this one pamphlet (which appears well researched, but who really knows?). So the bottom line is, anyone out there recognize these people, and know what actually happened?
