This Is All I Have On The Burches But Will Be Glad To Get Information On Any Burchs That Are Related. Thank You Debbie >> Hello Debbie, Just wanted you to know that there was no town of Haw River in 1764; there was an area referred to as Hawfields of Orange County, NC, through which the Haw River flows, which is where many of the early settlers found land attractive to them. This Hawfields(named for the Haw Indians) is in what is now Alamance County, NC, but very near to Hillsborough and Chapel Hill, NC. Orange County had been established in 1752, just a scant 12 years before your Burch ancestor was born. I looked to see if there were any possibility that a record of your William Burch's birth or baptism could be found in a church record, but the Hawfields Presbyterian Church did not hold its first meeting until 5 September 1770. Any records such as land records, wills, etc. would be housed under the Orange County records, most of which are found in the State Archives, Jones Street, Raleigh, NC. There were lots of Burches who settled in the part of Old Orange County, which became Caswell in 1777; some of whom ended up in another division of Caswell to form Person County, NC in 1792. I hope that this give you some help in your search. Best regards, John Fox Winston-Salem, NC
