Flanagan, Old Friend of Family, in charge - - - - - - - - - Another old resident of Battle Creek has answered the call, Lincoln E. Burch, 81, who died Sunday at his home on the east Main street road. Though he had been ill for some time his death at this time was unexpected. It is believed the excessively hot weather had much to do with hastening the end. His age at death was 81 years, 7 months and 8 days. Funeral services were held at the home Thursday afternoon with Elder S. Flanagan of Curryville, Mo., an old friend of the family, in charge. Burial was at Union cemetery. Pallbearers were Henry and John Bierman, Chas. Hansen, Walter Scheerger and Brian Flood, Battle Creek, and E. T. Collins, Meadow Grove. Born at Knoxville, Iowa, Mr. Burch came to Battle Creek in 1909. He purchased a farm north of town upon which he lived until recent years. When he retired from the farm he bought residence property just outside of town. In early life he joined the Primitive Baptist church and was active in the organization of the church in Battle Creek. He remained a faithful member until his death. Mr. Burch had married four times. His first wife was Ella Skelton, whom he married in 1885 and who died in 1906. In 1907 he married Dinah Smith and after her death in 1929 he married Maggie Buck in 1930. The third wife died in January, 1946, and in December 1946, he married Mrs. Martha Leach, who survives him. Other survivors are two daughters by his first wife, Mrs. Millie Leach of Kansas City, MO., and Mrs. Lavina Skelton of Idaho Falls, Idaho. One daughter, Mrs. Jessie Keeney, and the only son, Billy Burch, preceded him in death. One brother and a sister, Albinus Burch and Mrs. Jessie Elder, are residents of Oklahoma.
