His military record and any application for pensions should be reviewed. When Thomas Burch died, his legal residence was Hardy County, Virginia (now West Virginia). He served in the Revolutionary War as a private, Hardy County, Virginia, in Capt. John Winston's Company, 14th Regiment of Foot; also, the 10th Regiment, Virginia, under Colonel Com. Davis. His name was last upon the muster roll at Camp Middlebrook in January of 1776. Since his sons to whom you referred, Jesse and William, were born about 1778 and 1779, respectively, he may have married unknown Clark about 1777. No one has found a record of this marriage to my knowledge. A good search of the records in Hardy County should also be undertaken. Since he married his second wife, Susannah Talbert, on July 26, 1780, in Prince George's County, Maryland, one could assume that the unknown Clark woman may have perished before that date. If this information was unknown to you, perhaps something in it may prove of value to you. Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list.
