I performed an internet search on Lydia Melinda Earl. This search revealed she was a prominent genealogist in the 1920s and 1930s. She published in 1932 "Marriages in Fountain County, Indiana, USA 1826-1848" Different parts of her work have been quoted in several other books available online. For me, these facts make her statement about Clark being an Indian more credible. Moreover, if Ms. Earl had spoken to living descendents of Thomas Burch in the 1920s and 1930s, these descendents would have been great grandchildren of Clark. These descendents may have had knowledge of their great grandmother Clark. Additionally, Lola Robertson posted in January of 2000 that Clark was a Delaware Indian, I have contacted Lola Roberson and asked her to lead me to records supporting her statement.
