    1. [BURCH-L] Mary Hollendsworth
    2. Jeff Drake
    3. Good morning, everybody. I have a question most notably directed at the Burch and Thomas researchers, but one that I thought might spark some discussion among the Myers and Harrells, too. I have recently received in the mail a copy of Wm. Bernette Burch¹s Burch FamilyŠ, and was rather confused about one detail in particular: on the first page of records, he mentions that Joseph BURCH married Mary HOLLENDSWORTH, with whom he had three children. However, I have seen numerous places on the web that Joseph actually married Mary Ann FISHER. (No real citations; just what I¹ve seen.) What makes this even more interesting is that on p.9, Bernette states that General Tristram THOMAS [Jr.] married Mary HOLLENDSWORTH ³of a Welch family²! There could, of course, be two Mary HOLLENDSWORTHs, but it seems quite the coincidence that their children would marry each other: Joseph BURCH, Jr. married Elizabeth THOMAS (daughter of Tristram Jr.) on 27 Apr 1797. In searching the THOMAS-L archives, I have found quite a few HOLLINGSWORTHs that married into the THOMAS family. As Mary¹s surname is often spelled HOLLINGSWORTH, this would indicate the greater likelihood being placed in her marriage to Tristram Jr. However, I don¹t have any documentation for any of this, save this one pamphlet (which appears well researched, but who really knows?). SoŠ the bottom line is, anyone out there recognize these people, and know what actually happened? 3. Can anyone tell me about George BURCH who died in New Castle County Delaware in 1761, he supposedly came to Delaware before 1724. He was one of the sons of the BURCH from Ardwick England. His son Joseph I who supposedly settled in Duplin County North Carolina in the 1760's is my line. I do not have a clue as to who George or my Joseph married. But the Joseph BURCH II who died in Georgia 3/Mar/1818, is my ancestor. My grandmother Anna Mabel GAY OATES HARDWICK is Joseph II's greatgreatgranddaughter. Jacob L. 3. I believe Jesse (married to Ann) had a daughter Mary, making him anywhere from 56 to 62 when she was born if this is the daughter listed in the census. His other children that I have listed include James b. 1755, Jesse II b. 1758, Edward, and Jonathon. Does this sound right? -----Original Message----- From: [email protected] [mailto:[email protected]] Sent: Saturday, July 14, 2001 10:42 To: [email protected] Subject: [BURCH-L] Jesse BURCH, Montgomery County, MD...1800 Census I am looking for a family historian for the Jesse Burch family which is listed in the Federal Census of 1800, Montgomery County, Maryland. 2. My family was from Geneva Co. AL - They started there with two brothers, one of which was Green Berry Burch. I understand there are two volumes of books in the Library of Congress written by a Marylu Burch from Alabama. My grandfathers name was Linton Burch. I know his family had been in AL from at least the end of the 1800's. Many of the Burch's are buried in Pond Town Cemetary by the Methodist church near Hartford, AL.
