This information came from census records and a descendant of Lucy Burch, 9th child born Mar 12 1853. Shepherd has been a difficult fellow to trace, and other than a little information on their marriage in Kentucky and a few Indiana records, not much is available. I have a sister for Susannah Moore (Charlotte) b. between 1807-1808 (married William S. Alsman). Their mother's name was Nancy. I will share anything you like and would like any information you have. Thanks for responding to the post.

My father was the youngest of 11 children born to Enoch Arden and Anna Marie BURCH. Their eldest was Leslie Burch, born about 1885, probably near St. Louis, MO. Their eighth child was Joseph Leonard Burch, born in 1903, in Hannibal, MO. Leslie Burch left home, at an early age, and travelled with "wild west shows". During those years, he went by several different "stage names". When he died in 1966, in KS, he was going by the name of Arthur Enoch Burch. Leslie was apparently married 3 times, and had at least 8 children. I have quite a bit of information about Leslie, his siblings and parents, and descendants of all. Efforts to identify parents of Enoch Arden Burch have not been successful. Enoch was born in Illinois, but lived most of his life in Missouri. Does any of this seem familiar to you? Do you think there may be a family tie? Perhaps a picture would show a family resemblance? Any information would be greatly appreciated. Thank you. Art Burch
Dear Vicky Burch, If you have a private message or request such as that to Linda on Feb 18, please send it direct. If you are sending a query to everyone on the Burch site, then give a little more information so the rest of us Burch descendants can look up in our data. Dates of Birth and death would help. I have several Frances, Oliver and Josephs, middle names did not alway get down to us, I do have some birth and death dates and locations. My Birch's moved from SC/NC to IL/IN to TX to OK/Mo. Descendant of Elizabeth Ann Birch, daughter of Barnabas Burch. Rhoda Conley

I'm trying to find someone that is living at the present time, that is a descendant of Valentine I. Burch & Helen Cauble, probably through the Lewis marriage, who married into the Leeton family. If anyone knows of this branch of the Burch family, please advise. Valentine Burch, son of Dorothea Brown & Samuel Lewis Burch, came to TX from KY in 1836, and lived in San Augustine, Polk & Tyler Co., TX. Thanks, Sallie

This is an excerpt from THE HISTORY OF THE BURCH FAMILY by Davis Burch, June 1935. In 1720 Thomas B. Burch and Elizabeth Hammond, the daughter of Elder Jacob Hammond of Swanshire, Eng. were, accompanied by his brother James, married aboard ship on the way to America. James moved to NY and Thomas and family lived in VA until 1773. " The foregoing facts were told to me by my grandfather, James B. Burch, about 58 years ago ----------" Comments by Lee Burch, 23 June 1949, age 70 " I am sorry to say with all due respect and love for Davis, that he was very much confused in his memory of the Burch family history. I know nothing of the story of said Thomas B. Burch. I know that my grandfather's mother was not a Hammond but a Lawrence. I do not know what her given name was but she was a sister to Captain Lawrence's father, so Captain Lawrence and my grandfather James B. Burch were cousins.-------------------------------- I did understand that Capt Lawrence's father also married my great grandfather's sister, traded sisters, you might say." Any comments or thoughts? George

All I have is that my great great grandmother Eunice Burch b: 31 Jan. 1813 in NY state; d: 3 April 1905 in Miami County, Ohio. She married in NY state in the year 1830 to William Riley Bard. Between 1830 and 1834, they moved from NY state to Miami County, Ohio. I located on Ancestry.com data on the following Burch's that I believe could be related to my Eunice but have yet to prove it. Joseph Burch b: 1790 NY state Barton Burch b: 1804 NY state Zebulon Burch b: 1809 NY state Their parents were Zebulon and Unice. The 3 Burch brothers were living in Miami County, Ohio for a while before moving onto Mercer County, Ohio. I know for a fact that they were living in Miami County, Ohio in 1835 because I found the State census for that period and found Joseph, Barton, William Bard, and Zebulon living close to each other. Plus the fact that their mother's name was Unice and my g,g-grandmother's name was Eunice, leads me to think there is a connection. Maybe there is a connection to the above Burch's to your Burch. I am having a difficult time proving the connections if you find that there is a relationship to your and my Burch will you please contact me. Deborah
