I am a Louisiana Burch. My grandfather was Edgar James Burch of Edgard, Louisiana (a town on the Mississippi River between Baton Rouge and New Orleans that founded by the Burch's). His oldest son, my dad, was James Gordon Burch. (Both are now deceased). Based upon information my grandfather told me, the Burch's immigrated to Louisiana from the Alsace region in France (I cannot remember exaclty when but early 1800's. One of the ancestors names was Emile and the other was Antoine. One of them died in a duel. Their was daughter (whose name I cannot remember at this time) was educated at Sacred Heart Convent in New Orleans. The convent still exists and is now known as Sacred Heart Academy and is still educating young women. She was not a nun, just educated by the nuns, did get married, but I cannot remember to whom. There are several Louisiana Burch's who now reside in Lake Jackson,! Texas. There are New Orleans Burch's which was headed by Dr. George Burch, who is now deceased, During his lifetime he was a well known Cardiologist and professor at Tulane University School of Medicine. He, too, was born in Edgard, Louisiana. I believe he has surviving sons, one of whom may be named George and is also a physician. The information I am giving you is based upon memory. I did have it all in typed form, but lost it to Hurricane Katrina. However, you may be able to research more about Burch's from Edgard, Louisiana, which might help you find out more about your grandfather. Good luck. D. Burch Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. If you would like to reply to them, please click on the Message Board URL link above and respond on the board.

There have been sicknesses and vacations taken by the staff. I feel confident that the book would indeed be appreciated and I can place you in direct contact with their management. There definitely were Burch's who were Patriots in the start of our country. The book would allow researchers to find them and honor their memory and service!
