Author: Bernicewright97 Surnames: Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/surnames.burch/2258.1/mb.ashx Message Board Post: Yes there is alot of confusion about Littleberry. I've come to the conclusion there were at least 2 Littleberrys. Have yet to get anyone to agree with me though. The one that died abt 1842, I believe was the son of Charles and Sarah Howell Burch."Abel T. Wright files for letters of Adm on the estate of Littlebury Burch Feb 1, 1842."Alel T. Wright also witnessed Charles Burch's will. I believe that Littleberry was married to Margaret Wright, dau of Abel T and Rebecca Cadwell Wright. Rebecca Cadwell Wright's sister, Charlotte also married a son of Charles and Sarah Howell Burch. I did have some info on Margaret Wright Burch and her second family, but can't put my hands on it now. Joseph Burch, RS, born abt 1758 died 1818, married Edith Hargrove. They had a son Charles Burch who married Sarah Howell. Charles and Sarah had a son Littleberry, who I believed married Margaret Wright and he died abt 1842. There was also a Charles Burch, RS; son of Joseph and Ann Burch and brother to Joseph Burch (husband of Edith). This Charles Bruch, RS, married a Rebecca.Charles Burch, RS, died Sept 2, 1811. His will mentions wife, Rebecca;Edward, Littleberry,Joel, Jesse, Eliza and Searborn Burch.. Rebecca Burch was appointed guardian of Joel, Seaborn, and Eliza Burch minor orphans of Charles Burch, deceased. This Littleberry Burch may be the one that was father of Seaborn. I will admitt that I may have put the pieces of the puzzle together wrong, but it makes sense to me. Bernice Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. 2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Author: JMason1195 Surnames: Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/surnames.burch/2258/mb.ashx Message Board Post: Over the years there has been much said about Littleberry Burch of the Laurens County area of Georgia but I am totally confused by the information I have gathered. Much of it seems contradictory or not feasible. The Littleberry I'm looking for was the father of Seaborn Wright Burch born in 1830 in Montgomery County, Georgia. His father Littleberry Burch (L.B. Birch) was listed as head of household in the 1850 census in Burke County. His age was listed as 65 and living with him were sons Seaborn and William. Also in the household were an Edwin J. Birch (age 6) and a Jane E. Birch (age 36). I assume Jane and Edwin were William's wife and son (or perhaps Littleberry's wife and son??). I know Littleberry had a daughter named Purcy who married Izatus Jenkins. The 1850 census shows her living with her husband and children and lists her age as 44, so she was born about 1806. However, most genealogies I have seen on-line state that Littleberry died in April 1843 but this was obviously not the case. Also, he is referred to as the son of Charles Burch and the grandson of Joseph Burch. Since Littleberry would have had to be born no later than about 1885, it appears to me that he was too old to have been the son of Charles who was probably born between 1774 and 1779. Also, there is a great deal of confusion regarding the number of wives Littleberry had, their names, and the names of the children by each. Does any one have any sources which would clear any of this up for me. The more information I find the more confused it gets. For example, if you look at some of the genealogies for Charles Burch, he seemed to have children simultaneously by two different wives, and even had a child or two after his documented death in 1811. Help please! Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. All I know about his childhood was that he had a brother, William Allen BURCH (1859-1929), also born in Illinois, and died in St. Louis. Various Census Records indicate that their parents were born in Virginia or West Virginia. I've done extensive research regarding numerous BURCH families throughout IL, MO, KS, IN, OH, VA, WV, PA, NY, etc. One line of BURCH's I've researched centered in the Moundsville, VA/WV area ... would you happen to be related to this BURCH line? They had one son I know of, and appear in the Erie, Pennsylvania, Ward 3 (1910) census as R.C. Burch (35), Nellie Burch (34) and Theadore Burch (4/12). Rutherford was the son of Chauncey Benjamin and Alice U. (Smith) Burch, and was born 17 May 1878. His grave marker is in error, stating his birth year as 1887. Rutherford's wife Nellie (b 3 Aug 1876) was the youngest sister of my Great Grandfather Charles Udo Plumb. Charles Udo married Rutherford's sister Georgia Ann Burch 31 Jul 1892 in Erie. My question is this: When Rutherford (R.C.) died in 1916, Nellie and Theodore disappear; I've never been able to find them on any census or record. Can anyone help me with information on what happened to Nellie (Plumb) and Theodore Burch. There are several Henry Burch's in North Carolina; one who was old enough to apprentice my GGgrandfather in 1809. This Henry was in Person County, NC and was established by several court documents and was also listed in the Tax Records. Knowing where he settled in SC could provide some clues to follow. The Pendleton District was a favored place for settlement by folks in NC; that is near Spartenburg. Pay attention to the people your Henry associated with in SC. It is most likely that those people who were near him in his earlier years. Check out the witnesses on documents for your Henry; check out the families who provided spouses for Henry's children. Also check out the documents that Nenry may have witnessed for other folks. Look at the folks whose listed their taxes along with Henry; this usually indicated neighbors or in-laws for him. When more than on child of the same family intermarried with more that one child of another family, that can be significant information. Check out the church records of the churches near your Henry; some like the Primitive Baptist kept rather careful records of their members and activities.
