Posted on: BURCH, BURTCH, BIRCH Queries Reply Here: http://genconnect.rootsweb.com/gc/surnames/b/u/BURCH/queries/10060 Surname: BURCH, CRAWFORD, BARTLEY ------------------------- I am looking for information on parents of David Burch, born 1860 in either KY or MO, died 1910 in MO. He was married to Mary Jane Bartley. According to his death certificate, he was born in St. Francois County MO, but according to the information provided on the 1900 Census, he was born in Kentucky, his father was born in KY, and his mother was born in PA. There is an old family picture of Lou Burch which is believed to be David's brother, but I am unsure of this. There are other Burch's listed in the 1900 Census for St. Francois County MO which I am sure are related, but I don't know how. Two of the names are Samuel and John. Has anyone run across David in your family tree? If so, I'll be happy to share info. Thanks.
OBITUARY FOR L. L. BURCH LEMUEL L. BURCH s/o Robert Benham Burch & Anne Nichols L. L. Burch was born in Kentucky, February 24, 1825, ad died at his home in Oro Dell, Jan 20, at the age of 79 years and 11 months. In 1849 he married Mary Key and three children were born to them, all of whom are living. The funeral services were held at the home on Saturday, Jan. 21, at eleven o'clock. Despite the severe cold, a large asembly gathered to show their respect to this aged and honored citizen. Mr. Burch was a good man, kind and contented, a lover of home and a peaceful and quiet man. His death will be a heavy loss to his aged wife, who is almost 80 years old, and is almost blind. Anyone know the names of his children? Would appreciate having the info. ~~Bev in Oregon~~ "Obstacles don't have to stop you. If you run into a wall, don't turn around and give up. Ok, this is just a thought and I have no reason for it. Robert Benham Burch and his wife are buried at Franklin Butte Cemetery in Linn County, OR.,,,,,,,, along with Mary E. Burch Shilling, zzzjscob Shilling, her husband. S. Olive Shilling Funk, Joseph T. Funk, Guy Funk, Ida L. Funk Arnold and her husband Melvin O. Arnold. At another nearby Cemetery called Miller Cemetery,,(same County) we have the following graves for FUNK, Danny, Derral D. Howard, Ivan C. John S. Mary M. and Stormy Lee II. My thought is that William Benham and his wife may have followed the rest of the familys west to Oregon. I know that some of the BURCH familys were in Benton, Linn, Polk and Marion Countys of Oregon. There is a Cemetery in Polk County that is know as the "Old Burch Cemetery" it is Aouth and East of the small town of Rickreall. TALOGA-TIMES ADVOCATE Thursday, December 18, 1947 A. H. BURCH DIED MONDAY A. H. Burch lost his fight for life Monday when death took him during the early hours of the morning. Mr. Burch was near Death's door several times during the past three months. After a severe attack of pneumonia, complications set in which caused several set backs. His improvement had allowed him to be in a wheel chair part of the time. A turn for the worse occurred Friday night. The body has been at a funeral home in Clinton awaiting funeral services to be held at the Prarie Belle Church this afternoon. Rev. Nels Williams is in charge of the service. Mr. Burch has lived in and around Taloga for the past 50 years. He and his wife settled near Putnam in 1899. Later they lived at Lenora for 14 years. They had been in the town of Taloga for three years. Claude Burch arrived from San Diego, California Tuesday to attend his father's funeral. - - - - - - - -- - TALOGA-TIMES ADVOCATE Thursday, December 25, 1947 OBITUARY Albunis H. Burch, son of William and Phoebie Burch, was born at Knoxville, Marion County, Iowa on February 3, 1868 and departed this life December 15, 1947 at the age of 79 years, 10 months, 12 days. He was united in marriage to Eliza C. Williams on March 12, 1891. Six children were born to this union. In 1892 he moved to Wayne County, Nebraska where they lived for seven years. They then moved to Oklahoma in 1899 locating three miles west of Putnam where he lived until 14 years ago when they moved to the J. V. Flats, four miles west of Taloga, living there until three years ago when they moved to Taloga. Three children preceeded him in death: Charles Ray on August 5, 1901; Flossie Jones on November 4, 1914; and Earl Ross on June 30, 1942. He leaves to mourn his wife, Mrs. A. H. Burch; 2 sons, Claude of Chula Vista, California and Chester of Putnam; one daughter, Mrs. Maude Sneed of Woodward; 8 grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren, and one sister, Mrs. Jessie Elder of Putnam. Grandad Burch was a kind and affectinate father, and loved by all who knew him, both family and friends. It was during his illness that he professed his faith in Christ and wanted to be baptised. He would not want the ones he loves, To grieve for him today; We must not say that he is dead, For he is just away----- Away upon a journey, To a land that is bright and fair And though we all will miss him here - We know he is happy there And memories of him will bring new comfort every day As we recall, he is not dead, For he is just away. - - - - - - - - TALOGA-TIMES ADVOCATE Thursday, May 13, 1937 OBITUARY Leonard Gray Burch was born in Marion County, Iowa on April 13, 1862 and died May 5, 1937 at his home near Aledo at the age of 75 years, 21 days. Leonard was united with the primitive Baptist Church at Loveland, Ohio at age 22. He came to Oklahoma in 1898 where he has made his home until his death. He leaves his family and a host of friends. We who knew him best know his desire was to go on to loved ones already passed on and his life was lived with the lives of the poet as his daily creed: So live, that when thy summons come to join The innumerable caravan, that moves To that mysterious realm, where each shall take His chamber in the silent halls of death, Then go not, like a quarry slave at night, Scouraged to his dungeon, but sustained and soothed By an unfaltering trust, approach thy grave, Like one who wraps the draperies of his couch About him and lies down to pleasant dreams. - - - - - - - - - - Note: w/o Jared Walter Burch >From THE NEWMAN GROVE REPORTER December 3, 1947 MRS. Hello again, Sara! I just noticed something rather interesting.... You mentioned Elizabeth Hollingsworth BURCH. I have James HARRELL’s wife as Mary Hollingsworth BURCH, the daughter of Joseph BURCH and Elizabeth THOMAS. Mary did have a younger sister name Elizabeth Ann, but…. Did you say the wrong name, or is it a revelation to both of us that we’re not talking about the same woman? She was Emma Burch. She married Ruben Medley and they had one son, Irma Jack Medley. He was born in Buffalo Valley,TN 24 Sept 1899. Ruben died in 1916 and Jack joined the Navy in 1919. The photos I have show him with many of the Burch's in Paden-Prague,OK in the 1920's. I walked the cemetery in Paden Dec 2000 and part of Prague on the same day but found no Burch/Medley. Wondering where they came from and where they went.

Looking for Nancy Burch b abt 1795 in KY, who married Stephen Richardson 31 Jan 1815. Does anyone have her? Bill Brinkley
I am looking for my gr-grandfather, George Washington Burch born 1830/31 in PA. His parents were born in PA also. I have not been able to discover who George W's parents were. They are said to be PA-Dutch. On the 1850 census for Crawford Co,,,,,Venango Twp there is a Z.H. Burch and wife Lucy who have a son, George age 18 and other children. It COULD be my George. This is the only likely possibility I have found, so far. I tried to check out all of the Burches on 1850 PA census, which is available online. At some point George W. moved to Michigan. The census from that state for 1870 and 1880 is where I got what little information I have on these ancestors. Does anyone know this family? Hope someone can give me a clue. Margaret
