We have not nailed down the precise date that James 1 got to America. The first mention is in 1646 in Kittery, Me when he served on a Coroner's Jury. At that time he was about 18. This could be the first mention because he just got to this country or because he had just reached the age of 18 so it is hard to say. There were numerous people in Kittery who were from Devon, including his later employer, Mrs. Shapleigh. I am working on that right now by trying to trace down the other Devon people that were in Kittery at the time. I may get a clue as to when he came and why his parents do not seem to have been with him. Once I learn something interesting, I will ask the Devon people to check things out for us. It looks like a bunch of them went from Devon to Kittery, Maine between 1625 and 1650. A good friend of mine in Sacramento was taken to the tune of $180,000. This internet scam is actively supported by the Nigerian government, and is one of the single largest sources of funds for that country. On another note, has it been nailed down yet as to precisely when James 1 (D) arrived in the colonies?
