The BFA likes to honor our veterans and we try to gather all the documents we can find about any who served in any military action. We are trying to find copies of records about the Bunkers who served in the Revolutionary War. We have knowledge of 41 Bunker/Bonker men who served in some capacity but records of only two, Benjamin (N-80) and William who served in the Delaware militia. The other names are: Batchelor N-40; Beniah D-18; Bradbury D-5-I; Dodavah U-450; David N-66; Edward, family unknown; Eli D-37; Enoch D-14; George N-32; Isaac D-20; James Giles d-17; John D-18; Jonathan D-15; Jonathan D-38; Joseph D-15-IV; Joshua N-31; Nathan, family unknown; Peleg N-45; Richard N-84; Samuel N-18; Silas D-21; Solomon N-67; Sylvanus N-28; Thomas, family unknown but possibly a Bonker; Timothy, family unknown; Tristam N-29; William, commander of privateer 'Hound", family unknown; William, U-20; William, enlisted from NY and died Oct 6, 1777, family unknown; William served from NY and might be the same as the preceding William, family unknown; Zachariah D-28; Zeboulon. We have published a bit more information about these men in the Bunker Family History. (Gil has a great sale on these right now). For those we can identify, the numbers are listed above. N=Nantucket, D=Dover; U=unconnected and we have a bit of information about their families in the database too. If you are a descendant of any of these Bunkers and have copies of their Revolutionary War records, would you consider donating copies to our library? If you would like to have the government search their records and send you copies, contact me and I will tell you how to do that. If you have copies of any other Bunker military records and would like to send us copies we would love that too. What I do when I get them is scan them into the database and thereafter when I print out a record for that person, I can key it to print the attached images too. In addition to me having these records in the database, there are copies of the database with other members in case something happens to my database. I also keep them in the paper files. Using our database and library is a great method to make sure that your family documents do not get lost somewhere along the way. The BFA has been in existence for over 90 years and it is likely we will continue for a long time. So many documents have been lost. I appreciate any documents, vital records, military records, newspaper articles, etc. and especially Bible records that you can send me. Can you help us with this? Bette
