I enlisted in the federal army in 1861 and was honorably discharged in 1863 and in the time. while on furloug I was rendered a cripple. by the fault of other parties which I could not help I made application for pension about sixteen years ago and faild my friends all said I would fail because I am and was a democrat. I did all I could for the united States in time of need and now I am a cripple and a Pension is a little might to the United States and would be a great value to me. and now Mr. President. if my bill comes to you please sign it and relieve the wants of an old veteran soldier Yours. I am researching G.W.'s brother James I Bunker (U-852).
