    3. There seems to be some interest in this family. It appears that Robert Bunker was born in either New York or New Jersey about 1814 and married Permilla Harris about 1841 probably in Canada. He lived in Hamilton, Ontario and Winnipeg, which is in Manitoba. You are going to have to find some sources in Canada to learn more about them. Your best bet is to start with http://www.cyndislist.com and go to her links for Canada. The 1881 Canadian census shows Robert age 66 b. USA, farmer with Permilia age 56 b. Ont, Hannah age 23, b. Ont, Robert age 21 b. Ont, Marget age 16 b. Ont, Alexander age 13 b. Ont. in Walsingham, Norfolk South, Ontario. It indicates that Permilia is a "New Brunswickian" which means that her family first settled in Canada in New Brunswick. To see this go to http://www.familysearch.org and on the left side of the page you will see 1880 US and 1881 Canadian census now on line. Click on that and when the new page comes up enter Robert Bunker in the search box. Your Robert is way down on the bottom of the page under 1881 Canadian Census 2. Click on his name. When his name comes up look on the right side of the page. You will see household. Click on that and you will see everyone in his household. Unfortunately, this does not give you any more information about Robert's ancestors or Permilia's but it may help you some. Since Robert was born about 1815, and appears to have married Permilia in Canada about 1841, look at census records in New York and New Jersey between 1820 and 1840. Also look at Canadian immigration records. You should find a link to them on cyndislist. There were unusual names in this family so when looking for any possible father for Robert pay special attention to Nathaniel, Stephen, Mathias, Purvis if you see that name. Also try early histories of Ontario. This is pretty early for most places in Ontario to have been settled so it is possible you will see a mention of Robert's name in a history of the area and that might give you more information. In Canada, at that time, all marriages were done by the churches and the records kept there. Robert and his family were listed as Wesleyan Methodists. This was early for the Methodist church in that area too so look for records in the first Methodists churches established in the area. It is possible that the church will have the names of the parents of the bride and groom. I hope this will give you some ideas on where to look for more information. If you find anything we would sure like to hear from you. We have no data earlier than Robert (U-1000; RN=21882) b 21 Apr 1814 NY. This file was last updated in 1997, so we have several pages of (55) descendants. They are all named Bunker with their spouce listed also. This will help you chase down your Bunker cousins, but we can not help with the others, including the Boland connection to the lineage. I am forwarding cc to our historian who may have some additional data, but don't get your hopes up. If you care, I can forward the data I have and a copy of our newsletter. This will give you a good idea about what we are doing Need your home address gil ----- Original Message ----- From: KLJOHNSTON@aol.com To: Gilbunker@snip.net Sent: Friday, February 14, 2003 12:53 PM Subject: Bunkers Hello I am new to this amamzing hobbyof genealogy.
