For those of you researching in WI. -------- Original Message -------- Subject: [WILACROS] WHS vs. budget Resent-Date: Wed, 2 Apr 2003 12:13:47 -0700 Resent-From: WILACROS-L@rootsweb.com Date: Wed, 02 Apr 2003 11:13:52 -0800 (PST) From: "Roxanne Munns" <rmunns@uwalumni.com> Reply-To: WILACROS-L@rootsweb.com To: WILACROS-L@rootsweb.com The new budget proposed by Governor Doyle is seriously impacting the Wisconsin Historical Society and family history sites all over Wisconsin. (See article below.) There is an open letter from the Wisconsin State Genealogical Society President at: http://www.wiiowagensoc.org/WSGS1.pdf In that letter, it mentions that we need to make our view known to the Joint Finance Committee. The next public hearing for the Joint Finance Committee is in River Falls on Thursday, April 4th! It is vital that many people are able to make their opinions known about the proposed cut-backs. (The WSGS President states is so much better than I can.) If you do not live in that area, there are also hearings in Platteville and Madison (Milwaukee's hearing is already over). (See details for the Joint Finance Committee public hearings at: http://www.legis.state.wi.us/../lfb/jfc.html) If you cannot attend the hearings, please write to your senators and representatives, with copies going to the Joint Finance Committee chairperson. If you live out of state, please take the time to write a letter to the Joint Finance Committee, telling them about how important many of these services are.
