The Wisconsin State Historical Society building is on the campus of the University of Wisconsin - Madison. It has microfilm of every newspaper of any size in Wisconsin on file, and access to the microfile is essentially walk- in. The facility also has microfilm of newspapers from major U.S. cities on-file. Since Lena, Illinois (many Bunker's in the Lena area) is very close to the Illinois / Wis. state line the WSHS is an invaluable tool for researchers in Northern Illinois, as well as the residents of Wisconsin. Wisconsin (like all other states) faces difficult budget choices. That nonwithstanding, I am continually puzzled by decision to cut library services. Wisconsin isn't unique here - I believe there was a proposal to close the State of Washington library. There are far better places to cut state spending than eliminating library services. I will resist the temptation to editorialize on that topic in this forum. Best regards H.A.
