We have new information about Dutch Bunkers who are related to German Bunkers. A few weeks ago, Maarten Hiltermann, a Dutch descendant of Dutch and German Bunkers, contacted Michael Buenker and sent him genealogical information which Michael shared with me. I'm going to pass this information along to BFA list members as well. Maarten has shared some fascinating information that links his Dutch Bunker ancestors to Michael's German (Steinfeld) Bunker ancestors. Here is Maarten's first message: Dear Michael and Maria Buenker, I found your e-mail address on the Internet and since I have two ancestors, brother and sister, with the name Buenker and coming from Steinfeld, I took the freedom to direct myself to you. Hopefully you can provide more information about them and possibly about earlier ancestors as well. I am also quite interested in any other historical data and information. My ancestor Caspar Henrich Hiltermann (1777-1853) married at Steinfeld on 10-07-1821 with Carolina Maria Frederica Bünker, born in Steinfeld in 1797. Another ancestor, Bernhard Ignatz Anton Hiltermann (1824-1883) married in 1853 in Amsterdam with Johanna Maria Emilie Bünker (1831-1863). She was a daughter of Johannes Bernardus Ignatius Bünker, born ca. 1794 in Steinfeld (died in Arnhem in 1846). He married at Dinklage on 26-08-1828 with Maria Catharina Elisabeth Regina Bahlmann (1807-1876). These two ancestors Bünker were brother and sister of each other and their parents were Johan Bernard Bünker and Maria Agnes Cordes. From them I have no other data. The earlier mentioned Johannes Bernardus Ignatius Bünker moved to Amsterdam and later to Arnhem and did very well in the textile bussiness together wi! th the Bahlmann's and later also the Hiltermann's. He died very rich. The couple got 7 children in Amsterdam and Arnhem but unfortunately all of them died young. One son, Anton Wilhelm Bünker(1838-1876) married in 1872 in Amsterdam with Elisabeth Carolina Von der Möhlen and they had a son Ignatius Alphonsus Maria Bünker (born in 1874 in Amsterdam) and a daughter(*1877). This son became a lawyer and lived in Aerdenhout in Holland and was married with Marguerite Povel. I have no knowledge of any descendants from him and have actually the impression that that family-branch died out with him in Holland. If you are interested I can provide you full names, birth dates, spouses etc of the other Amsterdam born Bünkers as well. I am Maarten Hiltermann, living in Rotterdam (De Lairesselaan 92; 3062 PK Rotterdam and tel. (31)10 2121096), e-mail: mm_hiltermann @hotmail.com Since I write a genealogy about our Hiltermann family I am interested in any information about our Bünker (and Bahlmann, Hoijer, Stinker, Pott, Cordes) ancestors. By the way, the Hiltermann families originate from Füchtorf and Laer (now Bad Laer), just 30 km. South of Osnabrück. Hoping to hear from you, kind regards, Maarten Hiltermann.
