I found this unusual record. Balkasar Bunker d. 21 Nov 1853 and is buried in St. Vincent's cemetery in St. Louis, MO. Now I wonder who he is? That was awfully early to be in St. Louis. He could have been a voyageur and one of the Canadians or one of the Verboncoeurs. Bette
I live in St. Louis, so I just gave this one a quick shot. There is no "cemetery" listed in the phone book, but there is a parish church so I gave them a call on this. The lady told me that St. Vincent's Parish used to have a cemetery that is long-since gone. She was uncertain if it was relocated or just abandoned, but it was located smack in the middle of downtown proper, long-since covered with houses (it might even be the public housing complex, I'd have to drive it to check that). She said it was located west of Jefferson and south of Park Avenue, closer to the intersection of Park Avenue and Lafayette. She also said that she was not certain that it was exclusively used by the parish, but she would only have some record if the individual was buried by their church. She also cautioned that they are so inundated with genealogical requests that they have had to institute a policy whereby they have designated a person who charges $10.00 per hour to do these look-ups. If you want me to pursue this further I can give it a stab. The Archdiocese may have these records that I could look into without incurring cost - not sure about that one. I've benefited from the research of others so often, if I can help with this I will give it a good try.
