Good Housekeeping Site of the Day May 24, 2004 Tribute to a Generation, National World War II Reunion http://www.folklife.si.edu/CFCH/WWII/WorldWarII.htm Tribute to a Generation is sponsored by the Smithsonian Center for Folklife and National Culture. You'll find the schedule for the World War II reunion, the major four-day event beginning on May 27 that will take place on the National Mall at a series of tented pavilions and stages. The Reunion is free and open to the public, but if you can't make the ceremony, you can still browse the site. The Veteran's History Project in particular is where you can 'Tell Your Story,' 'See and Hear World War II stories' and access the 'Experiencing War' home page to view more stories. After exploring the different resources, you'll see that this generation of soldiers is certainly due a tribute! The dedication of the World War II Memorial is also slated during this Memorial Day Weekend. Stop by the Memorial Home Page at http://www.wwiimemorial.com/ and take a few minutes to explore the 'first national memorial dedicated to all who served during the Second World War,' the memorial that 'honors all military veterans of the war, the citizens on the home front, the nation at large, and the high moral purpose and idealism that motivated the nation's call to arms.'
