    3. I usually do not recommend products on this list, but after listening to Bob Velke at the TMG conference this weekend, I decided to try GenSmarts. This program works in conjunction with your genealogy program to help you do a lot of things. It will find people that need more research and suggest where to look for that. It gives the repositories (libraries, archives, etc) where these research materials are located. It give call letters, film numbers, etc. to help you find them at that location. It gives you data clean up suggestions like conflicts with birth dates and the logical age of the person, marriage date, etc. There is so much in this program that can help you do research. There is a free download. Because I use Netscape as a browser I had trouble until I switched back to Internet Explorer to go get a FoxPro file the program needed to download. After that I switched back to Netscape. I highly recommend that you try this program free and if you like it you can decide whether you want to buy it. It searches your entire file so it may bring up 30,000 recommendations, especially if you have a big file. One of the Bunker data bases has 11,865 people in it and there were thousands of recommendations. You can narrow that down to one person, only filling in where there are holes in your info, only looking at direct ancestors, looking at a specific person, etc. Play with it a while and try everything. Use the tips and help and see what this can do. I like this enough that I intend to buy it myself. The free download can be obtained at http://www.whollygenes.com/gensmarts.htm You can use it with most of the common genealogical programs including PAF, Family Tree Maker and The Master Genealogist. Incidentally, now that Master Genealogist has put in a beginner component as well as advanced user component, I highly recommend this genealogy program. There is no other program that can do everything this one does and once you learn the basics you can switch to advanced. Most importantly, if you use this program and have some questions or want me to look at your data compared with the BFA database, you can send me a backup copy of it on a CD or floppy and I can plug it in here with no problems at all. While I am not about to send anyone a complete copy of the BFA many databases, I am willing to send members copies for their direct lines if they are using TMG. I am working on the CD for the Devon Bunkers which will include all the information we have from Devon, England records as well as the Devon Bunker descendants in England, New Zealand, America and other countries. Hopefully, that will be ready soon. If I can ever figure out how to make it searchable, I will do that but so far that is beyond my computer smarts.
