    3. Hi All, This one has been around before. Do NOT follow the instructions below, as you will then delete part of your operating system. The Bugbear virus, as stated here, is a hoax. Best regards, John Snyder Shropshire, England on 20/05/2003 1:23 am, Nancy Porter at njporter@tdstelme.net wrote: > > > > > Everyone, I am so sorry, but I was infected by the Budbear virus which > > is not picked up by Anti-virus systems. 2. Nancy Porter
    3. Everyone, I am so sorry, but I was infected by the Budbear virus which is not picked up by Anti-virus systems. It sends itself to everyone in your address book and because I've been infected it's very likely that you will have been too. We did find this virus in our computer and removed it following these simple instructions. The virus (called jdbgmgr.exe) is not detected by Norton or McAfee Anti-virus systems. The virus sits quietly for 14 days before damaging the system. It is sent automatically by messenger and by the address book, whether or not you send e-mails to everyone. YOU MUST DO THIS: 1. Go to Start; then Find or Search option. 2. In the Files/folders option, write the name jdbgmgr.exe 3. Be sure you search your C drive and any other drives you may have (including My Computer and My desktop). 4. Click "find now". 5. The virus has a teddy bear icon with the name jdbgmgr.exe DO NOT OPEN IT!!!!!!! 6. Go to Edit (at the top of the page). Choose "Select All" to highlight the file without opening it. 7. Now go to File (at the top of the page) and select Delete. It will then go to the recycle bin. 8. Go to the Recycle bin and delete it there as well. Select All, permanently delete, etc. IF YOU FIND THE VIRUS, YOU MUST CONTACT ALL THE PEOPLE IN YOUR ADDRESS BOOK SO THEY CAN ERADICATE IT IN THEIR OWN ADDRESS BOOKS. To send this message to everyone in your address book: 1. Open a new e-mail message. 2. Click the photo of address book next to "TO" 3. Click every name and add it to "BCC" 4. Copy this message, paste to e-mail, enter subject and send. Just remember it only takes about 5 minutes to do this if you follow the instructions as written. We have Anti-virus systems that did not prevent this virus from entering our computer. We apologize for the trouble this may cause you. We, like the innocent people who sent it to us, are trying to help everyone remove it as quickly as possible. I checked for it and I had it and deleted it in less than two minutes. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- STOP MORE SPAM with the new MSN 8 and get 2 months FREE* MSN - More Useful Everyday MSN Home | My MSN | Hotmail | Search | Shopping | Money | People & Chat © 2003 Microsoft Corporation. 1. Michael Hammer and genetics
    2. Bette Richards
    3. Dr. Michael Hammer is the main scientist behind Family Tree DNA research. They do their tests at Dr. Hammer's lab at the University of Arizona in Tucson. Here is a website that has links to 38 of Dr. Hammer's published articles. http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/entrez/query.fcgi?cmd=search&db=pubmed&term=Hamm er+MF[au]&dispmax=50 This is a long URL that ends in =50. If you have trouble with it try cutting and pasting it into your internet explorer address box. This site provides abstracts of the articles. The entire article can be found in the publication cited. Some of these publications are online. The "related articles" link will lead you to abstracts of a lot more articles on the subject. Searching for all of these online or in your library ought to keep you occupied for a little while at least. ;-) Bette

    1. English wills
    2. Bette Richards
    3. Before 1858 English wills were proved at a variety of church courts, the main one being the Prerogative Court of Canterbury. There were local courts such as Archdiaconal Courts and Peculiars. From the beginning of 1858 all English wills have been proved at the Principal Probate Registry. The pre-1858 wills have now nearly all been indexed and can be searched online by going to http://www.documentsonline.pro.gov.uk A rare surname may work with the Quick Search but otherwise try the Advanced Search putting in surname, county and date range. If you find one that looks relevant you can download the image for three pounds (GBP 3). Generally the reading is not too much of a problem as the wills are not originals in a variety of hands but are copies in the register carefully written in a fairly standard hand. If you have problems reading them look for key words such as "item," "bequeath," "executor,"etc. and work from there This tip is from the latest Rootsweb review. Bette

    3. Bette Richards posted a URL which was reported not to be working. The correct URL is: http://www.bbc.co.uk/education/beyond/factsheets/surnames/surnames_home.shtml. The problem is that the final "l" was on a separate line, and not part of the URL. Doug Detling (D15-II) BFA Web Site/E-mail coordinator

    3. I cut and pasted the URL for the DNA and surname article so it should be correct. However, try this http://www.bbc.co.uk This is their homepage. In the search box click on BBCi only and type in surnames genealogy and that should take you to the right place. Sorry there is a problem with the link. 3. We just got the results for the last two men to be tested. It is very interesting. One matches the Beds Bunkers exactly. The other was another descendant of James Bunker of Dover, NH. We have tested 5 men in this group. One is a total mismatch and probably the result of a hidden adoption. The other 4 all match Devon Bunkers to some extent but are each different. This particular group from Devon have a very unstable DNA that mutates easily. It makes for some interesting analysis. Trying to put them all together with a common ancestor is going to be great fun.
