If you know the place of birth, then write a letter to the church of this town to ask for records. For this you first have to know of which religion/denomination your ancestor had been in Germany - Lutheran or Catholic or something else. If you don't know the place of birth of your ancestor, you should go to your nearest Family History Center of the Latter Day Saints (Mormons) to find out what they have regarding these surnames. If this doesn't work because they cannot help you, you will have a big problem. The only way would be to write a nice letter to the 31 Anstaedt's and 80+ Anstaett's found on the German White Pages on http://www.teleauskunft.de .
