    3. Hello Rooters, My ancestors have handed down the family tradition that the hometown of Johannes ZULAUF (born 1753) was Elberfeld, Germany, and that his father's name was Walter ZULAUF. I have found an old town named Elberfeld which was incorporated into Wuppertal in 1929. I have checked the IGI of the Mormon church and the ZULAUF surname does not appear in this town of Elberfeld before 1810. I need to know if there was any other town named Elberfeld in Germany in the mid-1700s? Can someone on this List help me with that question? For example, can someone gain access to an 18th-Century or 19th-Century atlas of Germany and look for the town of Elberfeld? No old maps have been found on-line with the detail needed to find a second town of this name. Also the name Walter ZULAUF does not appear in any location at any time in the IGI for Germany. In the 1700s there were a great many ZULAUFs living in Hessen-Oberhessen in the towns of Oberbreidenbach, Alsfeld, and Romrod, and there are many Johannes ZULAUFs among them; but according to the IGI none of these Johannes ZULAUFs are born between 1752 and 1754. Of course there are Johann and Hans ZULAUFs who might also have been named Walter, but none of those listed in the IGI appear to fit the date requirements for the father of Johannes ZULAUF born 1753. Other than searching the IGI, does anyone know how to locate a Walter ZULAUF living in Germany in the mid-1700s. Thank you for reading my requests. Hoping to receive helpful suggestions. Nelson R.
