Help! I just received a translation of my gr-grandmothers journey to America diary. There is a lot of geography which I don't understand. If someone could help me I would appreciate it. Era: May of 1882. She left Kohlfurth for Berlin and then to Hamburg. Her children were born in Steinkirsch "close to Lauban." She makes a reference to Opribpdorf (?), Schlesieu. She says, "But our wish to see fruits and vegetables, as we have them in Queisthal, ..." She refers to the beauty of "Silesia." I have been studying a map of the German region and am now going insane. I can't find any name on a map but Berlin and Hamburg. Is there anyone who can help me make some sense of this please? Translation needed also: She makes the following statement about her voyage -- "The first three days at sea were very 'glippig' but fortunately, we had beautiful clear weather." Could someone help me with this word in this context? Thanks in advance. Dave Lucas
