Checking the US Geological Survey Web site at http://mapping.usgs.gov/www/gnis/gnisform.html will show four features in Rhode Island that have the Bullock name. 1. Bullock Cove; a small bay that separates a finger of land south of Riverside* from the rest of eastern RI 2. Bullock Neck; a cape that is separated from eastern RI by Bullock Cove 3. Bullock Point; the southern tip of Bullock Neck 4. Bullock Point Reach; a channel in the water where Bullock Cove empties into Naragansett Bay *Riverside is a little town south of East Providence. These features used to be part of Rehoboth, Plymouth Colony. Rehoboth once was quite a large area that was divided roughly in half in 1812, the western part of which became Seekonk. In 1828 the NW corner of Rehoboth became Pawtucket. In 1861 Seekonk was split in two with the western part becoming E. Providence. Also in 1861 E. Providence and Pawtucket went from MA to RI in exchange for Fall River, RI which was annexed to Fall River, MA. It's all rather confusing but is important to understand when looking for some of our old Bristol co., MA ancestors, because some may have been in what is now RI. Jim Bullock Littleton, CO
