Thanks, Barbara, for your two replys, I have had Ray's book for many years and have examined Dr. Bullock's work on file in Raliegh, NC, and other info. of his and had telephone conversations with him before he died. He told me that "he does not believe there is any descendant of Capt. Hugh in this country." I am well aware that many lines, especially the Richard of Granville County, NC., which you appear to be part of, claim to have descended from Capt. Hugh, all of which was probably mostly due to Ray's book. I doubt one can prove that Ray was ever in Virginia. As stated in the opening of his book, his research states the same was done by Hugh Johnston, now deceased, of Johnston County, NC. Mr. Ray also states that the conclusions therein are his own. I doubt that one can find documentation by Mr. Johnston agreeing with Mr. Ray's conclusions.
