    3. Do you have Worth Ray's Book "Colonial Granville County and its People" with the section on "The Lost Tribes of North Carolina"??? >From all that I have read in Granville and Vance Counties of North Carolina all point to Hugh Bullock as being the ancestor of the Granville/Vance Bullocks that lived in the Nutbush Creek Area near Kerr Lake. There were three sets of Bullocks in Granville Co and its been hard to separate them. Worth Ray has my James Bullock as the son of Nathaniel Bullock and his wife Mary Hawkins. My James Bullock is from St. Mary's County, Maryland. His son Charles Bullock states this in his application for a war pension. In the will of John Bullock of St. Mary's Co. you will find that he leaves to his son James Bullock and this is the James Bullock who left Maryland in (1767 I believe --don't have my notes in front of me) when Charles Bullock was about 9 years old per Charles Bullock war pension application. I have never researched the Robert Bullock, son of William Bullock and grandson of Capt. Hugh Bullock, who Ray said was the ancestor of the Granville Co. Bullocks. There are many recored in Granville Co. on this Bullock Family, and much of it was done by Dr. Lewis T. Bullock (now dec'd and the Medical Examiner for State of Calif.) in the two file cabinets of Bullock information in the Thornton Library in Oxford, N. C. You may be interested in Dr. Lewis Bullock research as it covers some foreign Countries. Also, he has two Books with compressed information. You will need at least 2 days to read thru all his information and another day in the deeds office. Ray's book has Capt. Hugh Bullock and wife Mary of York County, Va. with sons William, James, Richard and Thomas Bullock. He says that Richard Bullock (second son of Capt. Hugh Bullock) was in Virginia as early as 1632 (William & Mary Vol. 1 (1) p. 165). Notwithstanding this established fact the busy imporation recorders say: In 1641 Richard Bullock was imported to Lower Norfolk County. In 1654 Richard Bullock was imported to York Co. He is reputed to have died in Surry County in 1703, leaving a will and his wife was perhaps Mary, who owned lands there the following year. My set of Bullocks settled in the Nap of Reeds Area and my Charles Bullock lived on Picture Creek in what is now Camp Butner. The only Bullocks from my set that I know very little about was William Milton Bullock who married a Capley and lived in Kershaw County. I have been there and visited their graves and met with a descendant of one of his daughters. He must have been a Justice of the Peace as he performed marriages. Other than this bunch, I thought that all SC spelled their name Bulloch and migrated to Georgia and then west. How do you connect to the Virginia Bullocks??
