Hello: I've been reading some of the latest traffic here with great interest; however, I have a more immediate problem. My great-great-grandmother was Jincy/Gencie Bullock b 1827 and d 1904, Clay Co., IN. She married Reuben Muncie in Clay Co., IN. She was the daughter of George Washington and Mary Davenport Bullock. Jincy is supposed to have been born in Randolph Co., NC. Her brothers and sisters were George Bullock, Henry Bullock, Lucy Bullock m Wm. Muncie, Margaret Bullock m. Peter Muncie and Absalom Jasper Bullock m Mary Jane Helton. In 1839, George W. and Mary, Mary's sister, Dor(c)as and her husband, Shubell York, and the women's mother, Jincy Bass Davenport left North Carolina for Indiana (along with numerous children). George W. died suddenly (cause unknown) soon after the families had crossed the Ohio River at Rising Sun, IN. He was buried there and a year later the families migrated to Clay Co., IN. George Washington Bullock was born c 1804 in Wilkes County, GA, (according to my source) and was the eldest son of Nathaniel Bullock and Elizabeth Brantley. m c 1825 (probably in North Carolina). This Nathaniel is supposed to be the same one who married Mary Hawkins. (Please don't jump on me with both feet - I'm just trying to get to the correctness of this material)! Then George W. is supposed to have a brother, Larkin Brantley Bullock, b 1 Jun 1811 probably in South Carolina. I have checked various records including in Oglethorpe and Wilkes Co., GA (personally) and have a great deal of information on the other children of Nathaniel and Mary Hawkins Bullock. I have copies of the original paperwork from Georgia when Nathaniel applied for Headright land there. I have copies of deeds from North Carolina and correspondence. But no one can offer any conclusive evidence that George Washington Bullock was the son of Nathaniel Bullock and Elizabeth Brantley. The Brantley's say they have no record of such a marriage. The marriage records show a marriage between an Elizabeth Brantley and a James Bullock. I'm confused. Any help out there? Sharon Bryant [email protected]
