Hello Ann: I am interested in your posting regarding John Bullock of GA and TX, who married in Troup Co., GA, in 1841 and had a son named Cordy C. Bullock. I see that the 1840 census of Troup Co., GA, included families headed by: Shadrach, Mary, and Cordy Bullock. One would think that this earlier Cordy Bullock must undoubtedly have been related to your John Bullock, for whom his son might have been named. Do you know if John was a brother to Cordy of 1840 Troup Co., and do you know where the family of John Bullock lived before coming to GA? There was a Shadrack Bullock and a Hardy Bullock on the tax rolls of Oglethorpe Co., GA, in 1805, and this might have been the same Shadrack who was present with Cordy Bullock in Troup Co. in 1840. Making it all the more likely that these folks are all connected to your family is your mention that another son of John Bullock was named James Hardy Bullock, who might have been named for the Hardy Bullock in the same area as Shadrack Bullock in 1805. I have an idea about the possible earlier origin of these families, if you do not have that information, but it would be helpful if you could supply all of the full names of the grandchildren of John Bullock that you know about, as given names can be wonderful clues. Also do you know what the C. stood for in the name of Cordy C. Bullock? You are likely to find several good clues in GA leading you to earlier ancestors, so good luck in your research, Ron
