I have no idea whatsoever on how to begin researching my GGG-grandfather Edward Bullock in North Carolina. I'm hoping someone can give me some guidance. Edward Bullock and his family were in Putnam Co., IN by 1820. His wife's name was probably Christina. I figure that Edward was born between 1770 and 1780. I do know that there were at least three children, Elizabeth (who married Andrew Eslinger in Putnam Co., IN in 1829), James P., (who married Cynthia Ann Dale in 1833 in Boone Co., IN) and Sarah (who married David Ramey in Vermillion Co., IN, 1838), probably more. There are also two other members of this family, a Hannah Bullock, who was either a daughter or a daughter-in-law, and Samuel, who was probably her son. Samuel lists his place of birth in the 1850, and 1860 IN federal census records as Indiana, in 1820. Hannah was born in Georgia about 1800. Both Elizabeth and James P. listed their place of birth as North Carolina. In the 1880 IN census, James' son, William Edward Bullock (my G-grandfather) listed his father's place of birth as North Carolina, so, I'm pretty sure that the family came from North Carolina. I have no idea how to go back from this point. I have practically no info on Edward Bullock, other than he was in Putnam Co., IN in 1830; in Vermillion Co., IN (which is on the IL-IN border)in 1840; and by 1850, his son James and daughter Elizabeth were living in Boone Co., IN with their families. I'm figuring Edward and Christina were dead by that time, as they would have been about 80 years old. There aren't many people researching this family that I know of, only my sister, myself, and another of James P's descendants. It's pretty lonely out here. Any guidance would be appreciated. Thanks.
