I just read a wonderful fiction book called "Nancy Swimmer" by Clyde Bolton. Its a story of a Cherokee Girl in Ga. around 1820 and tells the history leading up to the Trail of Tears. It details the lives of many Indians who were well educated & owned large plantations & slaves. I found it gave me a total different outlook on the Indians & white settlers.
