Posted on: Bullock Queries Reply Here: http://cgi.rootsweb.com/~genbbs/genbbs.cgi/FamilyAssoc/Bullock/10280 Surname: Bullock, Brown, Wier, Kent ------------------------- My grandfather was Henry Franklin Bullock, born April 27, 1900, His father was James David Bullock married to Sarah Ford (I think a daughter of Solomon Ford). Henry F. Bullock was married to Goldie Francis (Brown) Bullock (from Claremore, Oklahoma) the daughter of Andrew Thomas Brown and Annie May Dye. In our tree of the Bullock family, it is traditional to name the first born son after his grandfather by using the grandfather's first name as the newborn's middle name. Henry and Goldie Bullock had one daughter, Mildred and four sons, Thomas James Bullock (my father), Clarence Bullock, Paul Richard Bullock, and George Bullock. Mildred married Norman Floyd and had a daughter Mary Francis Floyd, and two son; Donald Luther Floyd and George Floyd. My father, Thomas James Bullock, born February 9th, 1925, died September 28th, 1998, married Wanda Blanch Wier, born July 11, 1927, died October 23, 1995. They had three sons; Stephen Henry Bullock, born February 1st, 1950, Robert Stanley Bullock, born August 31st , 1954, died August 1993, and Timothy Kent Bullock, born April 2nd, 1962, died, April 29, 1990. I married Shirley Mae Sargent early in 1970 and we had a son, Bradley Thomas Bullock on October 25th, 1970. He was born in Mt. Vernon, Illinois. His first born son is due the middle of May 2001! Shirley and I divorced in November 1972. Early in 1976 I married Judy Kay Davis and we had Scott Andrew Bullock on the 3rd of December 1976. He was born in Madrid, Spain. Then, on the 30th of December 1979, we had our daughter, Amanda Michelle Bullock. She was born in Biloxi, Mississippi. I hope this helps.
I'm searching for the parents of Madison BULLOCK who was born in March of 1881 in North Carolina. He lived in Harnett and Wake Counties, and was married to Chelly HARVEL. In 1900 there is a Noel Bullock, age 49, and his wife Rhody living next door to them. Their children are Turnia, Joseph, Della and Charley. Does anyone have knowledge of these families? Alene

This is my line of Bullock's. John Bullock m to Ann Rice is my 4 times great-grandparents. Where did you get your info. and do you have any info. on the Rice and Clark Family Lines? I have info. that shows this Bullock line goes back to one Hugh Bullock out of Devonshire, England. Deborah Bullock Freeman >> ======================= Hi Deborah, No, I have no known connection to the family line of David Bullock, whom I had written about. My earliest well-documented ancestor was Thomas Bullock, who made his will in Isle of Wight Co, VA, on 25 Jan 1709/10 in which he named brothers as William and John Bullock. His sons were: Thomas, James, William, Joseph, and John. I am working with others to collect all available records of Bullock families in VA before about 1750 to see if it can be determined how they might have been related and what their origins were. A valuable study of the early Bullock families in VA was published in 1956 in which it was claimed that my Thomas Bullock of Isle of Wight was the grandson of Capt. Hugh Bullock. I set out to see if I could find some documents that might support this conclusion. I have not been able to do so, but neither can I prove that it could not be so. However, in the case of Richard Bullock of New Kent Co, VA, a supposed great-grandson of Capt. Hugh Bullock, I believe that there is sufficient evidence to show that this is not likely to have been the case. The family line of John Bullock who married Ann Rice can be solidly linked to Richard Bullock, who was one of 20 persons imported into New Kent Co, VA, at some time before 20 July 1662, when Edmond Machan was granted 1000 acres of land there, where 50 acres were received for each person imported. However, I am highly skeptical that this Richard Bullock was the son of Robert Bullock, grandson of Capt. Hugh Bullock, as has been widely claimed. I do not believe that this Richard Bullock was a child when he was imported into New Kent Co, which could have been several years before the land patent was actually awarded in 1662, because when John Cape was granted 650 acres on the south side of the York River in New Kent Co. on 3 Jan 1667 for the importation of 13 persons, the land was described as running from the path to Richard Bullock's house to the line that divides New Kent from James City County. Indeed, this was probably the same Richard Bullock who was one of 13 persons imported into Lower Norfolk Co. by John Gookin at some time before 1641. At any rate, Richard Bullock was an adult home owner in New Kent Co. by 1667, and probably considerably earlier, which would imply that he was very likely born no later than 1646. There are four separate documents indicating that Hugh Bullock's grandson Robert was born in 1640, give or take a year in either direction. Therefore, it seems highly unlikely to me that Richard of New Kent (born by 1646 or before) could have been the son of Robert. Timewise, a better case could be made that Richard was a grandson of Hugh Bullock, perhaps even an unknown younger brother of Robert, who was not named in the will of either his father William or his grandfather Hugh. However, there are several problems with this theory. Captain Hugh Bullock was an important person in the early history of VA, but I think that all of us would be better pleased to know with a higher degree of confidence who our Bullock ancestors really were. I would be most grateful to learn of any documents that would connect any Bullock family in America with Capt. Hugh Bullock, either directly or indirectly through a person who was a common associate of the families. My best regards to all, Ron Bullock
