From the Land Book Index- 1848-1850 page 573: Josiah Bullard, Johnstown, Private in the 2nd Leeds Regiment of Militia, receiving Scrip for Militia Service in the War of 1812-14. Bachelors and Bullards are listed among the member of the Baptist Church in Steventown (Now Delta) in 1803. Some of this history is found in the book "The Baptists in Upper and Lower Canada" by Ivison and Rosser. After a lengthy search and the process of eliminating various Sarah Bullards, the search was concentrated on finding a family with a Josiah and a Sarah. From the IGI such a family was extracted, with the birth of Josiah and Sarah being close to the dates of those on the 1804 Census of Bastard. The children of Jonathan and Anna Perkins Bullard were born in Dedham or Dover Farms, Norfolk, Mass and Sturbridge, Mass., a short distance down the road from Palmer, Mass. where John and Sarah were married. From the Dover Gen. Hist. by Smith, the geneology of Jonathan Bullard was traced. Jonathan #4, John #3, Joseph #2, John #1. This was further proved form the book Bullard and Allied Families, tracing the ancestry back into England and parish of Barnham St. martin in suffolk. Jonathan sold his farm in Dover in 1862 after our Sarah was born and moved to Sturbridge where the rest of the children were born. From a manuscript in the library #780, a Bullard Family Record from a Currier & Ives print (1852) was extracted. This contains the record of Daniel Bullard and Elizabeth Gilchrist and their children. Daniel and Elizabeth and several of their children were born in Upper Canada and then the other children starting with Josiah Moroni were born in N.Y. , Lee Co., Iowa, and Know Co., IL. This family and that of Rueben Bullard and Cariline Marvin are found in the 1850 census of Knox Co., IL two 11 N 3 E. Rueben Bullard md. Caroline 5 Dec 1832 in So. Crosby twp, Leeds, Co. and in 1846 Josiah Bullard deeded land to Rueben in Bastard. Daniel Bullard md. Elizabeth Gilchrist 14 Nov 1827 in upper Canada, presumably in Leeds Co.
