When Brig N Larkin dip Pharm, Chief Pharmacist of the SAMS of the SADF needed a government property for the start of a medical sub-depot, in Cape Town, it was, almost the only site available. Accordingly, in Jan 1978 I was placed at the old jail which then became 14 MSD and supplied medicines et al to the state institutions. A visiting Navy officer snaffled the front door key. I have the Bevelvoerende Offisier plaque. 14MSD later moved to Goodwood and the jail became the archives. By September 1978 I was moved to 15MSD, Grootfontein, and became the Senior Medical Logistician of the SADF in (then) SWA. Just for interest.
