Hy was getroud met E Bockelenberg Dan is daar 'n Jacob Erasmus gedoop 4.8.1738 sv Jacob Erasmus en waarskynlik Hester Pienaar. Hy was getroud met Anna Margaretha Visagie Ek weet dat eersgenoemde in 1772 'n leningplaas in die Camdebo ontvang het in 1776 een in die Agter Bruintjieshoogte gebied langs die Groot Visrivier. Die plaas se naam was Buffelsdrift. Daar is heelwat inligting beskikbaar oor 'n Jacob Erasmus wat langs die Groot Visrivier gewoon het - o.a.in Robert Gordon se reisjoernaal (in die tyd toe hy ook die Oranjerivier sy naam gegee het) en In Moodie se The Record van 'n Jacob Erasmus wat onwettig vee geruil het van die Xhosas.
