Geen amptelike dokument(e) waarop dit verskyn nie. Op hierdie stadium is ek besig met navorsing oor my familie aan Vaderskant. My Pa (Gert Erasmus Burger) se Oupagrootjie –José Da Encarnação - het in Suid Afrika aangekom uit Portugal iewers tussen 1851 (sy geboortejaar) en 29 Mei 1882 (huwelik met Susan Ellmore/Ellmor/Ellnore Shaw). Teen die tyd van die huwelik in 1882 is sy naam en van (rééds, of tersélfdertyd) verander na Joseph Carneson. Hy is oorlede 9 April 1918. Ek het redelik inligting oor die Carneson-afstammelinge (waarvan my Ouma een was en ek het ook my Oupa-grootjie Joseph Duncan – oudste Carneson-afstammeling geken vóór sy dood in 1970, maar my belangstelling in familiegeskiedenis het ongelukkig eers heelwat later ontstaan), maar soek meer inligting oor die herkoms van die oorspronklike Joseph Carneson. Volgens sy Doodsbrief was hy afkomstig uit Porto, Portugal en was sy ouers se name John and Anna. Ek vermoed dis die Engelse weergawes van hulle oorspronklike Portugese name en dit mag dalk wees dat hy net van Porto na SA gereis het en nie daar gewoon het of gebore is nie. Daar is ‘n paar verskillende weergawes van die storie as dit kom by die naamsverandering en baie verskillende spellings van name en vanne – so bogenoemde mag dalk nie akkuraat wees nie. Hy was dalk ook in die weermag – volgens sy weduwee se Doodsbrief het sy ‘n Militêre Pensioen ontvang. Die inligting oor sy vrou se herkoms is ook onduidelik op dié stadium – sy was Brits (Skots?), maar dis onseker of sy in Suid-Afrika, of in Engeland / Skotland gebore is. Ouers se name – Henry en Isabella Hendry. As daar dalk iemand in die groep is wat reeds inligting hieroor het, of my dalk in die regte rigting kan stuur, sal die baie waardeer word!
