Dan is daar die boek Andries Raath en Danie Langner (Reds.). Die Afrikanerrebellie 1914-1915. Kraal-uitgewers. Ek het gedink ek het die boek, maar ek het hom defnitief nie. Ek gaan dit koop, maar dit sal ʼn tydjie vat om hierheen gepos te word. Die nommer 2175 laat my wonder. Ek weet in die Tweede Vryheidsoorlog het die gevangenis nommers gekry wat kronologies volgens gevangeneming gegee is. Dit is gepubliseer. As iemand nie die naam van die boek maklik kan gee nie, sal ek daarna soek. Dit gee die naam van die krygsgevangene, sy ouderdom, waar hy gevange geneem is en sy plaas se naam. Ek het dit in die National Archives nageslaan toe ek en Malcolm in Londen was. Ek weet dat daar ʼn paar kopieë in Suid-Afrika is. Janet, ek het nou omtrent ʼn uur en ʼn half bestee om die boek se naam te kry en ek is verskriklik bly, want ek het goed gekry wat ek gister gedink het, saam met my gesteelde rekenaar in die niet verdwyn het. Ek het die volgende navraag van mnr Glen Swemmer insake sy voorgeslag ontvang: I am a direct descendant of Jacob Pieter Swemmer. His parents were listed as Philip Swemmer and Johanna Catharina. Unfortunately I am unable to find any information regarding them. Jacob Pieter's first child was named Benjamin Frans Frederick Nöthling. My understanding of the naming convention at the time is that normally the first child was named after the grandfather? Which makes Benjamin's name unusual? I also note that the baptism was witnessed by Maria Elisabeth Nöthling and Frederick Wilhelm Nöthling. Is it possible that Jacob Pieter was adopted/taken in by a Nöthling? I'm hoping that maybe you could shed some light on this. This man was baptised on 21 January 1770 in Cape Town. In 1806 he applied for a grant of property of 25 morgen in the vicinity of Klein Blauwberg for toiling. In 1822 he was also present at the batism of Margaretha Florentine Odendaal in Swellendam. She was a daughter of Paulus Coenraad Odendaal and Johanna Margaretha Florentine Nöthling, a daughter of Benjamin.
