    3. The National Archives at Kew have most of the railway company archives. From memory you can search to see what they have before visiting. William who was a policeman in 1841 (died 1845 age 45), Alfred who was a plate layer in 1881 and William who was an train driver in the 1910's (died in 1917 of pneumonia after having been stuck in a snow storm while working as a train driver). As yet I do not have information from the 1861, 1871 and 1891 records to find out what Alfred was doing in these years. Does anyone know how I could get more information on their working lives? Are records kept somewhere of GWR employees?
