I was looking through the Biddlesden PR transcript last night when this name literally jumped off the page at me! I remember someone mentioning it on the list a few weeks ago, and as it's not a common name I thought it might be helpful to whomever was seeking the information: Baptism at Biddlesden: 1688/9 24 Jan Numan son of Numan & Elizabeth WILLIAT Also, I seem to recall that someone was researching the surname SQUIRREL: Burial at Biddlesden: 1695 25 May Elizabeth SQUERRELL Those appear to be the only references to these two surnames in the transcript (which is unindexed and covers roughly 1686-1811 with some gaps). I hope this is helpful to someone. -- Toni Skidmore Chicago, USA Researching: CLIFFORD/CLIFTON, DEAN, HOLLAND, NEAL(E), and NOQUET in Bucks
Many thanks for Numan. It's a pity the transcripts don't go back beyond 1686. I have will of Numan died 1676 of Weedon only son Numan is a beneficiary as are the poor of Biddlesdon. Numan d 1676 had wife Hester and another son Hugh who must have died before 1676 (he may belong to a previous wife Frances). The Helmdon website refers to (in connection with Astwell). 1669 Numan Williat senr of Biddlesdon and Hugh his son 1668/70 Numan Willett of Biddlesdon 1673 Numan Williatt Senr of Biddlesdon and Numan Junr his son. I suspect your Numan may be son of Numan junr. You didn't by any chance see any MISSENDENs in the Biddlesdon transcript?
