    1. Question regarding owners of land in the late 1700's

    3. Hi, Some time ago I purchased a will dated in the late 1700's of a great x a few grandfathers of mine and have just been reading through it again in the hopes of perhaps trying to learn some more about my family. In the will this grandfather mentions 3 pieces of land/property - 1 in Middlesex which mentions a copyhold cottage with the lands buildings and appurtenances but then says in the occupation of someone, a freehold cottage and lands buildings and appurtenances in Chipping Wycombe, Bucks and then 3 acres of land in Prince Wyrardisbury, Bucks (I have just written it as it is spelt in the will) but what I was wondering is if somebody might please be able to tell me anything at all please about exactly what this means and what the difference between freehold and copyhold might mean please? as well as if it might be possible to find out anything else at all about the family or properties by tracing any records of them and if anyone might please be able to tell me how I would t! hen go about that please? I would really appreciate any advice. Thankyou very much in advance. Tina Connell
