Hi Everybody, I hope you all had a good Christmas. Here in Australia our temperature was 26 degrees, a little cooler than normal, but of course a little more pleasant than in England. William DOVER married Mary BUTCHER, with their marriage being registered in Winslow Dec Quarter 1838. What i would like to know, if possible, the names of William's parents and the names of their other children and birth dates please. William and Mary migrated to Australia in 1847. Thanks very much to everybody that has answered my queries over recent months. The responses have been great and has helped me to proceed in my quest to complete my family tree. A Happy New Year to you all. Alan Australia
Alan, I don't know if this is your man, but there was a William DOVER christened at Whaddon on 31st August 1817 the son of Charles DOVER and his wife Sarah. Charles DOVER and Sarah ROBERTSON were married in Whaddon on 10th July 1817. A William and Mary DOVER were christening children at Whaddon on 16th July 1839 (Jonathan) and 30th May 1841 (Charles). 1841 census - Whaddon - Principal Street (not a name, a description) - William DOVER 25 Bricklayer Mary do 22 Jonathan do 2 Charles do 5 months Sarah do 43(?) Lacemaker All born BKM To find more, I think you might have to invest in some searches of parish registers, or wait until the BFHS publishes a transcript ot Whaddon & buy it. Note that Winslow in the context of marriage registration is a district, not a village. Without it being narrowed down to Whaddon, it would have been impractical to have looked for them in the 1841 census, as it isn't indexed. If you get the marriage certificate, it will give the fathers names.
