    3. Can SKS advise me as to what local newspaper would have been operating in Beaconsfield in the 1860s and/ or indexed the names in such a paper? I am still trying to track down details of Rev John GOULD's imprisonment for debt and subsequent weekend release to take services in All Saints and St Mary's, prior to his death in 1866. I would also appreciate advice as to what local newpaper/s are currently read in Beaconsfield, with an email address, if possible, as it has been suggested I might place an enquiry in such a paper (thankyou, Richard). I am living in Perth, Western Australia and must do my research via the internet. T.I.A Beverley

It is still going. >and/ or indexed the names in such a paper? > no luck there. Indexes are as rare as hen's teeth. However, a clergyman going wrong may have been mentioned in The Times, so checking the Palmer Index to the Times (shd be available on line, or at libraries, on the Thomapson/Gale site) >I am still trying to track down details of Rev John GOULD's imprisonment for >debt imprisoning bankrupts was one of the illogical things they did then - it ensured that they could not earn any money to pay off their debts. >I would also appreciate advice as to what local newpaper/s are currently >read in Beaconsfield, with an email address, if possible, as it has been >suggested I might place an enquiry in such a paper Not usually the thing that people just know (unless they are related and still ln the area *unlikely) or local historians - possible since there is a small local History group. -- Eve McLaughlin Author of the McLaughlin Guides for family historians Secretary Bucks Genealogical Society
